Integrated Project (BMED 3010)
It consists of guided design and implementation of a biomedical engineering application (e.g. ECG monitor and pulse oximeter). It aims to offer students an opportunity to work in groups to integrate their knowledge in engineering techniques and know-how, as well as project management, following a disciplined engineering process, to achieve the final goal.
Biomedical Engineering Laboratory (BMED 3504)
This course emphasizes biomedical engineering principles and experimental designs applied in human physiology, from cellular to tissue and organ levels. The course is comprised of four major lab modules: electrophysiology, characterization of cells and tissues, micromechanics of small objects, and biomedical imaging systems. State-of-the-art biomedical designs in these four areas will also be addressed.
Lab Shadowing Program (LSP)
LSP aims to broaden students’ exposure to different BME disciplines; to enhance their interaction with BME teachers in the 1st-2nd year of study. In LSP, students can experience the real-world BME research by shadowing the work conducted by the mentors (e.g. research postgraduate students (RPGs), senior research assistant (RAs) or postdoctoral researchers) in the research laboratory of our BME teachers.
